History

Hachette Australia, part of the Hachette Livre Publishing group, publishes high-quality commercial fiction for adults and children across a wide range of subject areas.

Our Hachette Australia imprint is home to authors such as Lian Hearn, Hugh Mackay, Peter FitzSimons, William McInnes, Barry Humphries, Harry M Miller, James Phelan, Gabrielle Lord, Penelope Green, Kimberley Freeman and Prof Jennie Brand-Miller and Kaye Foster-Powell’s internationally acclaimed Low GI series.

Our local imprint also publishes international bestsellers Mitch Albom, The Dalai Lama, Augusten Burroughs and John Grogan. We have recently established our own Orbit list – part of the prestigious international Orbit imprint. Our children’s books are published under the highly regarded Lothian Children’s Book imprint and include authors and illustrators such as Shaun Tan, Colin Thompson, Gary Crew, John Marsden and Alison Lester.
