On the lush green planet men had named Ver-draak, a green-haired, crystal-eyed race once lived. But the Ni-lach were no more, killed off by humans who feared their strange powers. Yet legends of a great Ni-lach treasure lived on. Eventually, men's search for Ni-lach gold led them to a great forest called the Deep--and to an orphan named Dhalvad, a carefree young man who played with alien fur children and..cured the sick without medicine.

Soon Dhalvad and his friends--human, alien and otherwise--are running for their lives before relentless pursuers who do not know the true value of the wealth they seek.

Humans had long shared the planet Ver-draak with the Ni-lach people -- until, in fear of the unusual Ni-lach powers, they turned on the natives. The Ni-lach who survived the massacres went into hiding. Decades passed. Pursued by bounty hunters, Dhalvad the Ni-lach and Poco the half-breed fled into the wilds. Though Poco didn't know it, she had a special Ni-lach talent, similar to Dhal's abilities to Heal and to transport himself through space and time. But somehow she had to learn to use her gift -- for the fate of all the Ni-lach people hung in the balance.

So when a group of human adventurers planned an expedition across the dreaded Draak's Teeth mountains, they needed a draak-singer to safeguard their journey.

Suddenly the Ni-lach Bhaldavin was thrust into a quest for the relics of a forgotten era--and his only hope for freedom lay with the very people who had enslaved him.

After fleeing the wrath of humans who feared his powers to Heal and to transport himself through space and time, the Ni-lach Dhalvad had finally settled among his own people and put his life of adventure behind him. Or so he thought... until the Tamorlee, the crystal that held the Ni-lach history, called to him for help.

Suddenly Dhalvad was on a blind quest for another crystal, guided only by the inner vision of the Tamorlee. And his long lost brother Bhaldavin, Tamorlee.
