History
A publishing enterprise is more than a simple conduit between author and audience. We believe there is power in a physical book, and we seek to embrace the traditional spirit of print while still experimenting with the novelty of the future. We wholeheartedly subscribe to the notion that reading is not only sexy, it is also essential. We consider it a privilege to keep important things alive.
Resurrection House launched in 2013 with two imprints: Arche Press and Underland Press. Arche Press was formed in concert with the over-arching Resurrection House operation as a nested imprint targeting our love of speculative fiction. Underland Press exists on the fringes of genre, both literary and weird. It was born earlier—founded by Victoria Blake in 2006 as an independent publishing company based out of Portland, OR. Underland published nearly a dozen titles under Ms. Blake's exceptional guidance, and in 2013, Resurrection House acquired the press and now continues Victoria's excellent work. The imprint has won the American Library Association's Best Horror award, and its books have been nominated for the Hugo Award, the Nebula Award, the Shirley Jackson Award, and the International Horror Award.
Resurrection House was founded by and is run by working writers, and our philosophy is charged with respect and appreciation for authors' rights. Resurrection House (and/or its staff) are members of the Science Fiction Writers of America (SFWA) and the Horror Writers Association (HWA).
Resurrection House and its imprints are distributed by Publishers Group West (PGW) and its affiliates.
