History
The MacLehose Press is an independently minded imprint of Quercus Books, founded by Christopher MacLehose and publishing the very best, often prize-winning, literature from around the world; mainly in translation but with a few outstanding exceptions as English language originals.
We published our first books in January 2008, among them a ground breaking thriller by a little-known Swedish author called Stieg Larsson, and since then our list has grown to include writers from almost every continent and some of the very best translators working today. From writers as yet undiscovered in translation, to prize-winning household names; from dazzling literary creations to spine-tingling noir masterpieces, we endeavour to bring a broad spectrum of the very best of foreign literature to English-reading audiences.
Our mission is to “Read the World”, and we hope you will join us on our adventures.
