Synopsis
Nebula Award nominated short story. It was originally published in the antholgy Orbit 18 (1976), edited by Damon Knight. It can also be found in the anthologies Best Science Fiction Stories of the Year: Sixth Annual Collection (1977), edited by Gardner Dozois and Future Primitive: The New Ecotopias (1994), edited by Kim Stanely Robinson. The story is included in the collections Howard Who? (1988) and Strange Things in Close-Up: The Nearly Complete Howard Waldrop (1989).
