Synopsis
Remember the classic Twilight Zone episode in which a man only wants peace and quiet so he can read - and then a global event seems to finally provide him with the opportunity?
This short story originally appeared in If, January 1953, and was anthologized in The Twilight Zone: The Original Stories (1985) edited by Martin H. Greenberg, Richard Matheson, and Charles G. Waugh and Womanthology (2003) edited by Forrest J Ackerman and Pam Keesey.
It was the basis for episode 8 (1959) of The Twilight Zone.
