Release seemed not at all in our wheelhouse. There was nothing in in it's synopsis or the categories of it's amazon ranking which indicated to me we should include it.

There was nothing in in it's synopsis or the categories of it's amazon ranking which indicated to me we should include it. I think it was the ghost out for revenge that lead me to believe it would fit here. The description of the book from Patrick Ness' website says: Its Saturday, its summer and, although he doesnt know it yet, everything in Adam Thorns life is going to fall apart. But maybe, just maybe, he'll find freedom from the release. Time is running out though, because way across town, a ghost has risen from the lake... Also, on Goodreads most people reading it are categorising it under such things as: Magical-Realism, Fantasy, and Ghosts. Edited by Weesam 2017-09-16 4:50 PM

Member Posts: 10 | Nice list! I really loved the John Boyne, a sublime haunted house novel. And also dug the Peter James, in a trashy way. I did read the Grey and the Siddons but didn't really do much for me. Though, I'd be very interested in your other haunted house reading. I think you must have pretty good taste in that area.

As a book in the vein of The Handmaid's Tale, it's a no brainer. It sounds like these two should sit side by side on the shelf.

Uber User Posts: 857 Location: The Wilds of Washington | DrGreybeard - 2017-09-18 1:18 PM Please add: Sword of the North by Luke Scull It's already in. Also, in regards to your request for these four series, Necroscope, Titus Crow, Oron, and Red Sonia, since it's more involved to add series that have multiple titles like these, they'll be added at our leisure.

Uber User Posts: 857 Location: The Wilds of Washington | Weesam - 2017-09-11 5:41 PM Release by Patrick Ness I relooked at this book, going to the author's web site and what not. A ghost out for revenge? The goodreads categories I see are GLB, contemporary, young adult. It's like we're looking at different books, but not. Very strange. Anyway.... If this is like Hamlet's father, a ghost that has a role to play and lines to speak, then, fine. Sure. But if it's like mentioning a ghost as casually as one mentions that person on the street corner, as a back ground detail of the narrative structure. and little else, then I'd say, does it really fit any of our categories? Doubtful, to my mind at least. Give it a read and shoot me an email. If you still think it does fit with what we're doing, It'll get added. Edited by gallyangel 2017-09-22 2:51 AM

It and it's sequel are now in. What is it with British authors and comic writing? Rankin, Pratchett, Adams, just to name three off the top of my head - in this era.
