Random quote: "A lot of the people who read a bestselling novel, for example, do not read much other fiction. By contrast, the audience for an obscure novel is largely composed of people who read a lot. That means the least popular books are judged by people who have the highest standards, while the most popular are judged by people who literally do not know any better. Member Posts: 14 | Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace Maybe not the most traditional SF, but I think it qualifies.

Is it possible to get Explaining Cthulhu to Grandma and Other Stories by Alex Shvartsman? I really, really want to add it to my Short Fiction challenge. These two are in. I had my doubts about Infinite Jest but looking a few more places and what they had to say convinced me. 1000 pages. Have fun with that.

Regular Posts: 54 | Two books by Elizabeth Wein, The Lion Hunter and The Empty Kingdom, were recently added to WWEnd and categorized as part of The Mark of Solomon series. This is all correct; however, these two books additionally comprise a sub-series within a longer five book series named The Lion Hunters (link goes to author's website). Could the first three books in The Lion Hunters series--The Winter Prince, A Coalition of Lions, and The Sunbird--also be added to the database? Edited by Jain 2015-02-27 7:21 PM

Uber User Posts: 857 Location: The Wilds of Washington | Finished! I've been putting in the Gregg Press Science Fiction series from the middle to late 70ies in the data base. It feels like it's taken forever, but I guess it's only been this month. What I want to know is who in Gregg publishing came up with the idea to devote a certain percentage of the series to obscure titles which hadn't had a release in, oh, 80 or a hundred years? And who at Gregg thought that was a swell idea and gave it the go ahead? I guess I just have to get over my comfortable illusion that SF started with Shelley, but exploded with Verne and Wells. That's a lame and superficial understanding. The truth is much more complex than that.
