Nominees for the novel category are:

Only read two on the entire nominations list. *sniff* The Ape's Wife and Other Stories by Caitlin Kiernan is quality reading, though.

Location: UK		I've just noticed that The Golem and the Jinni appears to be called The Golem and the Djinni over here. How odd. I've never felt any particular preference for one spelling over the other, and I assume the former was the author's spelling.

Anyway, I've got three of those (Samatar, Gaiman and Wecker), but haven't read any of them yet.

Having read the summary for The Ocean at the End of the Lane, I really did not expect to enjoy it. The plot just sounded so... contrived.

But I really did like it. And, ruminating on it and savoring it for the next few days afterward, I realized that I quite enjoyed it.

There's a really interesting analysis of the book here, where it's hypothesized that Gaiman wrote the book for his partner Amanda (to whom it's dedicated) as a description of his upbringing in a Scientology family -- and true or not, it made me look at the book in a new light.
