There's a new site presenting classic book covers from Penguin's science fiction selection:

Those are really awesome! Great find, dude. I really like the 1984 cover and the J.G. Ballard series.

Some great covers there, the only one I could find that I actually read was the The Day of the Triffids which i read as a kid.

I've not read any of the penguin editions even though I'm a huge fan of the classic penguin SF covers. Mostly it's because I hardly ever see them for sale anywhere... which is probably a good thing as the temptation to collect those books for the cover art would certainly be too great to resist. My wife already looks askance as the pile of unread books on my desk.

@htaccess:  Those are some great links.  Good Show Sir is one of my favorite book cover blogs.  Here are a few other blogs and articles about book covers and book cover design that I really like:

Greatest Sci-Fi cover ever was just on the front page of Worlds Without End.

We are all in agreement that Cat Karina by Michael Coney is the best. It is, based on my analysis, 50% Cheese, 50% Erotica, 50% 1970s, 50% Glorious Subtitle.

That is a truly terrible cover IMO.  I looked for an alternative to use but that was the best I could find. I think that one belongs on http://www.goodshowsir.co.uk/ for sure.
