Biography
Symmes Chadwick Oliver, who published under the name Chad Oliver, was an American writer of science fiction and westerns. He joined the faculty of the University of Texas, Austin in 1959, where he was twice the chair of the Department of Anthropology. Oliver was the Robert D. King Centennial Professor of Liberal Arts and also one of the founders of the Turkey City Writer's Workshop.
