Biography
As a senior editor I helmed Barnes & Noble's Collectible Editions program of leatherbound classics beginning in 2007--sourcing authoritative texts, choosing contents, coordinating production and design, and overseeing the line's growth into a 20 million-dollar business.
But editors do not live by classics alone. I am also a pop culture nerd who has worked with content from Marvel Comics, DC Comics, Lucasfilm, and&--lets just say that from Alfred E. Neuman to Luke Skywalker and Spider-Man, I've seen it all. I've edited more than fifty anthologies of crime, horror, fantasy, and science fiction, and I'm a winner of the Bram Stoker Award from the Horror Writers of America and the British Fantasy Award.
My reviews and feature articles have appeared in the Washington Post's Book World, Publishers Weekly, and Locus, and my scholarly work in Supernatural Literature of the World: An Encyclopedia, which I co-edited. I've edited trade fiction and true-crime lines, and I served as a contributing editor to Rockbill where my features included interviewees ranging from Jim Henson to R.E.M.
You might also ask me about my decade of cooking experience and running a restaurant kitchen, and my many years as a medical writer and editor (professions which, you'll be glad to know, never dovetailed).
