Biography
Muthi Nhlema is a civil engineer who has never practiced and doesn't regret it one bit. He joined Water For People-Malawi in 2011 and currently works as a Monitoring and Communication Specialist (among a myriad of other things). "One Wit' This Place" is his fifth short story and his second foray into the realm of speculative fiction. His science fiction novella Ta O'reva, about the return of Nelson Mandela to a post-apocalyptic South Africa, won third Prize at the 2015 Freeditorial Long Short Story Competition and has been shortlisted for the inaugural African Speculative Fiction Society's 2017 Nommo Awards. His other short stories include "Journey of Restoration," "Legacy" and "Free Seating," for which he won the First Merchant Bank/Malawi Writers Union Short Story Prize in 2016.
He is married and has a son.
