Biography
Marc Cushman is a Writer's Guild of America screenwriter, a television and film director/producer, and an author. Gene Roddenberry took the pitch from Marc for "Sarek", the first episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation to openly include a character from The Original Series and thereby link the two series together.
Other screen work includes scripts for TV's Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction, and feature films. Cushman co-authored I Spy: A History and Episode Guide to the Groundbreaking Television Series.
Cushman is a seven-term president of the Los Angeles, California based Alameda Writers Group (AWG), which began in 1992 as a co-venture between screenwriters working at NBC and Disney Studios, both based on Alameda Boulevard in Burbank, CA, explaining the group's name and place of origin. He has taught screenwriting at Los Angeles based universities including, currently, Pierce College, Woodland Hills, California.
Cushman was awarded a Saturn Award in 2014 in a special recognition category for his three-book nonfiction series These Are the Voyages - TOS, documenting the production of the original "Star Trek" TV series
