Biography
John Harwood is an Australian poet, literary critic and novelist. Educated at the University of Tasmania and Cambridge University, he went on to become Head of the School of English and Drama at Flinders University in Adelaide South Australia. He left Flinders University in 1997 to become a full-time writer.
While he is better known for his writing on poetry, Harwood's published work includes fiction, biography, political journalism and literary history. His first novel, The Ghost Writer, won the International Horror Guild's First Novel Award. He lives in Hobart, Australia.
Harwood is the son of the poet Gwen Harwood.
