Biography
Henrietta D. Everett (1851-1923) was the last in a long line of gifted Victorian novelists who knew how to grip the reader through the invasion of everyday life by the abnormal and dramatic, leaving the facts to produce their special thrills without piling on the agony. It is for her short fiction that she is best remembered today and was admired at the time by fellow-writer of supernatural tales, M.R. James.
