Biography
Gail Carriger is the pen name of Tofa Borregaard, an archaeologist and author of steampunk fiction. She attended high school at Marin Academy in California, and received her undergraduate degree from Oberlin College, a masters of science in archaeological materials at England's Nottingham University in 2000, and a master of arts in anthropology (with a focus on archaeology) at the University of California Santa Cruz in 2008.
Carriger was nominated for the John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer in 2010. Her first novel, Soulless, was a Compton Crook Award nominee and a Locus Award finalist for Best First Novel. She was the Guest of Honor at FenCon in Dallas, Texas, in 2011.
When not traveling to genre conventions, Carriger lives in San Francisco, California.
