A romance set in a fantasy world
This is set in the same world as Sorcerer of the Wildeeps, but it is not a sequel to it.
It seems obvious now, looking at the synopsis, but I had somehow gotten the mistaken impression that this is a fantasy plot which includes a romance. In actuality, the romance is the plot: star-crossed lovers from two very different countries (one of which has some severe cultural taboos), angry and disapproving family members, the trials and tribulations and sacrifices involved in trying to make a life together.
Which is fine, if you're into reading romances. It's not really my thing, though, so after 40 of 150 pages, I called it quits. But if you do enjoy reading romances, there's some nice fantasy worldbuilding here.
