Absolutely my favorite Sanderson novel to date. Even with the Stormlight Archive out there. That series is still growing, and when it is as fleshed out as the characters in this book are, it will undoubtedly be better. However, since we don't have that whole series yet, I stand by my first statement.

Sanderson's character development was beyond outstanding. I understand these people. I feel their struggles with them and I love how they interact with each other. To me, he hasn't done this better in any other novel. Stormlight comes close, but there's just something about these characters.

And then theres the new world developments we knew were coming. He had talked about how there was a southern continent before and that it did things differently than the continent on Scadrial we were used to, but I couldn't have imagined using the magic system with technology the way he did. It was very cool. I can't wait for this fourth book. I am dying to understand more about the Cosmere and I know that this next installment will give so much insight.

I have gotten ahead of myself. The ending of this book hit me like an avalanche. Except, the best kind of avalanche, so maybe one made of something tasty and non-deadly? From this into secret history fulfilled that itch you always get from wanting to know more about this world, yet it left me with soooo many questions. I hate and love him for that.

All in all, an amazing book.

As a post script here, I did find out something at a book signing about a possible connection between this series and Stormlight that we have already seen if anyone is interested in that kind of discussion.
