I've now read all of the mistborn books to date, but when I read this one I knew it was one of the best works that Sanderson had written. The mix of serious subplots with the fun world he created in Alloy of Law was perfect. I loved seeing that we were diving deeper and I have loved everything since. On the podcast (the legendarium) they didn't seem to like the title. They thought it didn't fit, and that this title should have gone on the mistborn:secret history. While I understand what they mean, I disagree. (SPOILERS!!!) ---> I think that this title is about what Wax became when he lost Lessie, and then when he lost her again. He couldn't be himself. And with Harmony interfering and making him question his free will... Who wouldn't be a shadow? I realize that with Sanderson the term "shadow" holds more meaning, but I think since it really does have to do with the cognitive realm and how you see yourself, he really is in a state of flux here with everything that happened. Chances are that his soul was indellibly changed by these events, in all three realms. So I think this title stands true for me.
