Heechee Rendezvous is very gripping and builds a lot of tension and expections. Perhaps that was its downfall.
The book starts off with Broadhead still struggling with his guilt. Thankfully, it doesn't dwell too much on the subject. But Broadhead is stiill not very likeable. Humans make the first contact with the Heechee and we get to know of the terryfying race of aliens who are attempting to re-create the universe.
After that, I expected a grand struggle between the Heechee-Human forces against the aliens. But alas, it just ends with Broadhead coming in terms with his guilt finally. Bummer!
Still, a great read nevertheless.
