On a Red Station, Drifting

This is a novella, really, being just under 150 pages, and I heard a bunch of reviews last year and the year previous about it. Then, at Dysprosium/Eastercon this year, I saw her talk and her stuff sounded interesting, so I dipped my toe in. It was unexpectedly beautiful. Grim, in most parts, and the world is beautifully imagined. It's not gone into detail in the novella, but from my understanding, the universe exists under the speculation of what would happen if China had been the first to discover the Americas? Anyway, this was mostly about family, sacrifices, and the subtle social standings in play.
