Guards! Guards! is the first Terry Pratchett book that I have read. The writing is humorous and witty.

A dragon has been summoned by a wizard who wants to take control of the city. Sam Vines is captain of the City Watch, the un-respected law enforcement for the city. Vines and his police force are drawn into battling the dragon and the wizard while they protect and serve the ungrateful citizens.

A fun and enjoyable story.
