(Deliberately kept vague to avoid spoilers.)
Disappointing.
This one just didn't engage me. It was written well enough, but I cared about few of the characters. Most interesting were the two archeologists, but I am quite sure that excavations don't work the way described in this book.
Wildly different things were going on for them with no visible connection other than being in the same universe and under the same threat, and few of these things were original. Most people should have expected the surprises they got!
Maybe things will connect better in the next books of the series, but the situation Nira will find herself in is enough for me to end it here.
