The edition I have has a preface by William Burroughs which is appropriate since this book reads more like a bUrrough's cut-up than one of Burroughs, this in spite of the fact that it was not composed as a cut-up.
Obsessive, repetitive and hypnotic. The same themes re-occur; car crashes, pornography, orifices, geometry, celebrity. A good introduction to all the subjects covered by Ballard's later work especially his brilliant novel "Crash".
