Unremarkable.
I did manage to finish it, despite almost abandoning it at around two-hundred pages, but really it didn't do enough to make me want to read the sequel, and I might very well have jumped ship if I wasn't reading it for a challenge.
It has its own twist on things, but the plot is very much the standard village boy with secret destiny trope. I never really felt very attached to the characters. There are too few clues given out early on, it's just a perpetual chase with promises of information later. The names are just odd (Recityv?) and there's a serious apostrophe problem.
It just didn't really work for me. It gets two stars for getting to me the end.
