Hourglass

Hourglass by Myra McEntire is a romance, paranormal, science fiction novel. It is the first in a trilogy, but the last that I will read. It concerns a seventeen age girl (Emerson Cole) who has been treated and viewed as mentally ill, when, in fact, she has special abilities related to seeing and visiting the past. The time travel aspect of this novel is so superficially drawn as to be laughable.

The mentor and must be the Love-of-her-Life, is a twenty-two year old handsome, mysterious man ((Michael Weaver) who tries to both teach the main character about her special powers and protect her from the bad guy (and surprise! his pretends-to-be-good-but-is- really-really-bad-girlfriend).

Sparks literally fly, lights are blown out, etc., etc. when mystery man and main character physically touch. It is annoying; as is Emerson's one and only best friend, who conveniently turns out to have had a secret super power all these years also.

The supposed twist and turns: can Emerson really trust Michael when he doesn't tell her everything... (of course, Emerson doesn't tell Michael everything either, otherwise the bad guy would never get the upper hand and we wouldn't have a story for very long), will Michael ever kiss her again, is it possible that her best friend's newly divulged special power could be something that might help, and, finally, can she dress to kill by herself or will Emerson forever be dependent on her sister-in-law's help?

I am sorry if this review seems too short, but I have a hard time wasting more of my time after the time I all ready wasted by reading this book.
