I was surprised how much I liked this first person-narrative. The conversational tone with succinct explanations of cryptography etc. slipped in really hit the mark. The main character was very well portrayed as a cool dork. It got a little predictable towards the conclusion. The bad guys were one-dimensional, but as a 1st person telling from a teenager I could overlook this. Aren't your opponents always one-dimensionally evil/wrong at that age? It felt more alt-history than near-future knowing Obama is president Two years ago this books might have come across as more scary. Overall a very enjoyable book that I keep finding myself thinking about weeks later.
