The Ghost Bride

I think if I had gone in with lower expectations, this would be a solid four stars.

Fantasy set in colonial Malaya? Awesome. Dealing with the Chinese afterlife? Yes, please.

I was caught up right away. Then, for some reason, I started skimming little bits. Then I started skimming larger bits. This just couldn't hold my interest. It got a little predictable. The characters stopped developing. Random love interests thrown in. Ugh.

We need more books like this, and I applaud Choo for the premise and the effort. I will absolutely read her next one because this one showed so much promise.
