Really interesting world-building going on--this is set in a future earth that has been drastically changed by the Quantum Bomb of 2015. On the other hand, Lila's self-image problems (granted, not every girl is a cyborg or a bionic woman) got a little old and the elves seemed fairly stereotypical in their allure. For some reason, Zal never came through as a complete character to me, even though he is one of the primary characters. I'm hoping it develops more depth in future books.
