According to the above, I'm the first male to rate the Best of All Possible Worlds and I must admit that it's taken me a couple of goes to get into this. If you look at reviews for the book on Goodreads there's a huge focus on the fact that the book does appear to be Star Trek Fanfic with The Sadiri equated with Vulcans. I have no way of knowing whether Karen Lord intended that or not but it doesn't really matter- neither does the fact that there are echoes of Ursula K Leguin, Ray Bradbury ( Lord references my favourite Bradbury story Dark They were and Golden-Eyed frequently) and even Jane Austen in the story of the gradual development of a relationship between 2 branches of humanity after the extinction of the Sadiri home planet by yet another branhc of humanity. At the end of the day, this is well-written, intriguing adult science fiction and is to be appluaded for that. I look forward to seeing how Karen Lord develops her wrting talents in the future
