I spent 7 weeks reading this and went through many changes in the way I felt about the book.
I read the first book a year before and found it quite a challenge, the lengthy chapters and what I felt to be a dense and challenging narrative, but to my surprise the end was superb and all the buildup made sense once I had finished the book.
So when I started the second I expected the same and was prepared for it and looking forward to it. It was different from the first book however almost 300 pages longer and took a lot of concentration to finish. At times I was blown away by some of what was happening, particularly the Cub/Nighteyes relationship with Fitz. However at other times I felt bogged down by a story that sometimes seemed to be standing still and not really going anywhere.
This is what I enjoyed though as again I was in for a superb ending.
Worth the effort and I nearly put aside my other books to read to start book 3, but I will wait, no doubt it will be similar to books 1 & 2 and longer!
