This is well done but not very interesting. A "generation ship" story where, believe it or not, something has gone horribly wrong with the ship's mission. The characters are for the most part late generation clones of original patterns created to serve specific roles when the ship reaches its new destination. The writing vividly describes the massive ship and its workings, although I wonder why such advanced technology feels the need to create multi-headed, furry or scaly monsters to do its clean up work. Wouldn't there be cleaner and more efficient solutions from the worlds of chemistry and advanced physics. But then you would have a book without any multi-headed, furry or scaly monsters in it.
