Even when reading it for the first time in 2007, it's easy to see how this book had such a profound impact on the collective psyche during the sixties. However, it must be said, the novel shows its age in some ungraceful ways. It's long in the tooth, disjointed, often preachy, and it gives such a consistently sexist and homophobic vibe that its message of equality and openness ends up self-defeated. Still, an interesting piece of historical SF, worthy of grokking.
