If you like this book, if you hate it, I can tell you as a fact you'll remember it because it's brutally not just brutal. What makes this book hit so hard is the children's physiology. That's what struck me so hard, they are just almost unrealistically children. Their fundamental moral compass isn't present, and it's so weird to think about. Because I think this is how someone without a moral compass would act, it's done scarily. I've had mine in place for much longer than some of their ages, but I've grown up in a world where I was educated about those things from a young age. It's not so hard to believe that in the setting that this book was written in, they just didn't. And it's scary... I mean that they still feel all the normal emotions but don't know how to translate them into meaningful philosophy. this one will stick with me for a long time, Barbara will stick with me for a long time, PAUL will definitely stick with me for a long time. Read this and think about it, it will make you feel something for sure, and a lot of some things most likely.
