A very nice effort by Norton which, in alternating chapters, describes the course and fate of two humans on a single world. One is a lost coloiny survivor/desceendant integrated with the people and ways of the world. The other is a new arrival, from a different Terra than the one the other left in fear and desperation.
They both see the powerful aliens who have long ruled this world with different perspectives, and the story brings them slowly together to resolve the issues around freedom, oppression, reconnection and self-determination.
A fast moving story with a lot of interesting cultural detail, as is a trademark of Norton's work. The end comes somewhat abruptly, as though Norton ran long and needed to wrap up the story, but this is a small quibble.
Highly recommended.
