Record of a Spaceborn Few

This is a sugar-sweet, family sitcom on a spaceship. If you like lots of cutesy dialogue and touchy-feely themes, then this book is for you. You can practically hear the canned laughter as you read. It's corny, and light-hearted, and fits in reasonably well with the rest of the Wayfarer series. I rolled my eyes a lot and struggled at times to get through what should be a quick, easy read. The plot is weak in this highly character-driven novel. Five seemingly unrelated characters' viewpoints are shuffled and rotated throughout, and that kept me waiting for them all to be drawn together in a meaningful way, and I guess, to a certain degree they were, but, you never get the mind-blowing epiphany I was hoping for. The story is just sort of brought gentle, heartwarming conclusion. It's certainly not a bad book, it just could've used a heavy dose of intrigue, and fewer teaspoons of sugar.
