Ammonite

Having read Slow River, and knowing the reputation of this book, I have to say that I was a bit disappointed. Maybe my expectations were too high. While the writing was beautiful, the story went from sci-fi to Dances With Wolves very quickly once Marg went to the planet. I know Griffith's intent was to show a society made up entirely of women who were normal people (as opposed to heroes) who had adapted to their circumstances. She certainly succeeded at that, but to the degree that it took front and center instead of the story. Still recommended, well worth a read.
