The story here is a series of chapters consisting entirely of dialogue, each by a secondary character speaking to the protagonist whose dialogue and thoughts we do not get to see/hear/read, but some of which can be inferred by things the secondary characters say.
It's clever, but requires the dialogue to be a bit clunky and artificial in order to convey the protagonists' missing dialogue. The worldbuilding is interesting, but I found the solution to the mystery to be a disappointment; nevertheless, I think this novella is well worth reading.
