Having recently returned to the Doc Savage series after a fifteen-year hiatus, I was thoroughly engrossed in this novel. While the series as a whole follows a familiar formula, each book can be enjoyed independently. However, I must emphasize that 'The Man of Bronze' is a must-read for anyone new to the series, as it introduces the iconic character of Doc Savage and sets the stage for future adventures.

As you delve into the world of Doc Savage, you'll be introduced to the enigmatic character of Doc himself and the reasons that drive him to battle arch-villains. You'll also meet his five compatriots with unique strengths and quirks. One of the series' most intriguing aspects is the Hidalgo Trading Company, a recurring element in most Doc novels. Understanding its origins and significance will add a new layer of depth to your reading experience.

You may have read this basic storyline before with slightly different twists as you read a Doc novel. That's because Lester Dent, the author or controlling co-author of all Doc Savage Novels, wrote "Master Fiction Plot," followed to a great extent by many later on. Fact checks me on this with an internet search of "Lester dent formula."

On my rediscovery tour of Doc Savage novels, I'm moving on to the second submission of Lester Dent's to Street & Smith Publications, Inc., "The Land of Terror." If you are following along, that is Doc Savage Novels # 8 in Bantam Books.
