I enjoyed this book (and the entire series) quite a bit; it brings the found-family subgenre to a new and hugely entertaing level. One thing that bugged me, though, and has bugged me in quite a number of books lately: excess sass-buttery. I get it, the captain and most of her crew are sassbutts, and that makes sense, but I really had a hard time buying the idea that the representative of a brutal alien culture would be matching them, word for word, in snark.
