Read this as part of a GoodReads challenge covering the entire Vorkosigan saga. She didn't write the series sequentially; this was only Bujold's 4th book and it shows, as it does the first 3. One of her weaker efforts; she hadn't really leveled up her writing and hit her stride at this point. It's meant to be a fun romp, and it is, but it's a little clunky. One of my complaints about the series is the silly coincidences that come along to give the plot some direction, and that is evident in spades here. Still, it's not a horrible book, and it is a key book in the series, leading up to the Hugo-winning Mirror Dance, so it's worth a read. Don't go in expecting much depth though.
