Down Among the Dead

I absolutely loved the first trilogy in this universe (The Indranan War). This second series, The Farian War, while featuring many of the same wonderful characters, has gone in a very different direction, and I'm not sure yet whether I think it works or whether it's a deus-ex-machina too far; however, this entry was enjoyable and a fast enough read that I'm happy to stick through it for the third novel and see where it goes. This series is much less battle-oriented and much more psychology- and negotiation-oriented than the first trilogy.
