Content Warning: The stories in this collection contain detailed descriptions of physical and emotional abuse, sexual assault, and mutilation.
I read the three novellas in this collection for the Novella Challenge. (Bear in mind that horror is not really my thing, and if it's your thing, you will probably really enjoy this.)
The School House makes it pretty clear that Bestwick was the recipient of some sort of bullying as a child, because this story is so true. But it's also a very grim story about mental illness.
Angels of the Silences, a story of revenge, has a plot that has been done a lot, but this version is fairly well-executed. It will be either cathartic or traumatic for people who have been sexualy assaulted.
And Cannot Come Again is a tragedy of abuse, mistakes, regret, and penance.
Recommended only for fans of horror who enjoy -- or can at least deal with -- the dark and grim subject matter.
