The Rise and Fall of D.O.D.O.

Well, there are not too many occasions where you can use your conversational Sumerian :)

I loved the beginning and the end of the book (even as it ends on a cliffhanger). I loved the dry humor of the bureaucracy - the overabundance of TLA's and MLA's is a gem on it's own. I loved the presentation of the book (letters, diaries, memos, wiki pages).

However, the pacing in the middle couple of hundred pages is a bit on the slow side - focusing more on the organizational bureaucracy than on the action itself. Also, the book does require at least passing knowledge of medieval history - but I'd say that knowledge of esoteric topics is par for the course for any Stephenson novel.

In conclusion, while I immensely enjoyed the book, I kinda don't want to read more of it, so if this is intro to a series / shared universe I'm not sure whether I'll continue reading.
