September's journey trough Fairyland is as imaginative and enganging as it is heartbreaking at some times. My heart was flourishing thanks to all the memorable details - A golem made of soap? A city made of cloth? Multiple incarnations of the same character in different personal timelines? Count me in. Valente linked these ideas with a strong narrator and unforgettable characters. It reminded me a lot of "Alice in Wonderland" but with more heart. Valente's poetic writing definitely created a modern fairytale for me - this book is simply a prime example why I love written stories so much.
