An epic generational science-fiction saga
This novel tells the story, in three parts each separated by a span of years, of a renowned science-fiction author who sets up a foundation with the long-term goal of sending humanity to the stars, and his family members who continue to carry on that work after the founder's death. I really enjoyed this (but then I've enjoyed everything I've read by the author), especially the final part where the project comes to fruition.
Each of the three parts of this novel (The Legion of Tomorrow, The Prodigal Son, The Long Wait) were finalists in Asimov's Annual Readers' Poll in the year they were published.
